2023年5月1日，国际图书馆协会联合会在官方网站公布了2023年度国际图书馆协会联合会任职人员选举结果。经文化和旅游部批准参选，并在图书馆业界的大力支持下，国家图书馆馆长、党委副书记熊远明，党委书记、副馆长陈樱，副馆长霍瑞娟等6人成功当选国际图书馆协会联合会职务，进入国际图书馆协会联合会各下设机构任职。

2022年6月9日，2021-2022年度美国华人图书馆员协会（Chinese American Librarians Association,CALA）专业发展奖（Sally C.Tseng’s Professional Development Grant）揭晓，武汉大学信息管理学院黄如花教授榜上有名，为全球2位入选者之一。
2021年8月17日至19日，2021年国际图书馆协会联合会世界图书馆和信息大会（国际图书馆协会联合会大会）在线举行。大会主题为“让我们携手共创未来”，下设“图书馆创新”“图书馆包容”“图书馆可持续发展”“图书馆启发思考”“图书馆赋能”等5个分主题，安排各类线上会议及活动150余场。
