美国非寿险精算学会成立于1914年的美国非寿险精算学会（CAS）前身是美国非寿险精算与统计学会。1921年该学会改为现名，并沿用至今。与北美精算学会（Society of Actuaries, SOA）主要关注于人身保险相对的是，非寿险精算学会主要关注财产保险领域。
美国保险数据管理学会成立于1984年，是美国一个独立的非盈利性专业组织。学会的宗旨是“促进保险数据管理领域的专业化水平”。在学会的章程中是这样规定的：达到这个目的的主要手段是教育。为发展保险统计、数据管理，以及数据质量的专业化水平学会将设计一套课程。课程用于测试学员的专业化程度，一旦通过所有课程，学会将向该学员颁发职业证书。

1986年，南京审计学院设立了财政金融系，该系在2000年分为财政系和金融系。2002年，南京金融高等专科学校并入南京审计学院后，原南京金融高等专科学校的金融系和国际金融保险学系相应地并入南京审计学院金融学系。金融学院是2005年学校在机构改革过程中，在金融学系基础上提升成立的二级学院。目前有金融学和保险学两个本科专业。
